For years I have been hearing from God that a paradigm shift was needed to move us into His next big move. A paradigm shift is a change from one way of thinking to another. It is a revolution of thinking, a transformation of our minds, and a complete turnaround in the way we speak. It does not just happen, but rather it is driven by agents of change. That paradigm shift is here. God is causing us to understand that what we “see” determines where we “go”.
When the Lord told Moses to send the spies in to the Promised Land, He told them to go and “see what the land is like.” He then also said Oh yeah, “bring back some of the fruit of the land.” He wanted to know what they thought of the new land they were going to. What they saw and perceived about the land determined if they would be able to go up and take it. The spies brought back all of the bountiful fruit, yet in their report they included the bad report about the giants in the land. Caleb and Joshua were the only ones who came back with a good report of the land that God was giving them. They said “Let’s go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” The remaining spies kept giving bad reports of the land, saying that the land was a land that “devours its inhabitants. We are like grasshoppers in their sight.”
This attitude and thinking made God angry. He said to Moses, “How long will the people reject me and not believe me?” He went on to say that “because all these men do not believe me with all the signs and wonders I have performed among them, they shall certainly not see the land of which I swore to their fathers. But my servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him, I will bring him into the land and his descendants shall inherit it.” God went on to say that the “carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in the wilderness, except for Caleb and Joshua you shall no means enter the land.” The very men who returned and and made complaints to the congregation by bringing a bad report of the land, died by the plague of the Lord. Numbers 13-14.
What are you seeing and speaking about your future and present? Are you complaining and murmuring about lack of money, about sickness, your job, or your family? Are you making your bills look like giants in the land that are too big to overcome? Are you focusing on kids that are on drugs that you can’t talk sense into and can’t see how they will ever change? Are you frustrated with your sick body, your grouchy husband, your broken down car….well, you get the point. Caleb and Joshua saw the same giants that the other spies did, but they looked at them differently. They looked through eyes of faith which told them they could overcome them. These giants were nothing against the Living God. The things you are looking at are nothing in the sight of the Living God either and you are well able to overtake them. Change your thinking about what you see! Change your perception of your situation! How you ask? Find out what the word of God says about your situation and begin speaking that out of your mouth instead of your problem. Stop meditating on the negative thoughts and focus on the Word of God. Get it in your mouth and speak it out daily. Several times a day even. Don’t give it up after saying it for two days. You got yourself into this mess over a much longer time and it takes a little time to turn things around. Hang in there and believe God’s Word works.
